Teutie Pie Turns 3!

Teutie Pie Turns 3!

A story of a girl and her loom 🪡

How it all began!

I began jewellery making during the final year of my biology degree as a creative escape. I taught myself the meticulous art of bead weaving. Once I graduated, I finally had the time (and the courage) to set up shop! Since then, I have been hand-making pieces, trying to make each design better than the last.

Even after three years, I still feel like I don't know exactly which direction I’m taking Teutie Pie in. Running a business as a one-woman band is NOT for the weak (see Exhibit A).

Exhibit A

Having said that, I am extremely proud of where Teutie Pie is today. I can safely say that I truly feel aligned with what the brand stands for. Teutie Pie was created to join the journey of young women as they discover and embrace their unique style, confidence, and femininity.

Where is Teutie Pie headed?

A big goal of mine is to participate in more market stalls this year. I would love to get out there and chat about my products with you lovely people. So far I’ve done one stall for the past three summers with the amazing Kilburn State Of Mind. It’s important to me that I meet you guys, face-to-face because there’s nothing like real-time feedback.

One of our brand values is kindness and that includes being kind to our environment. Currently, we source some of our beads second-hand or rework old jewellery pieces into our designs. Moving forward I’d love to make our packaging fully recyclable and set up a repair service so you can love your pieces for longer.

Above you is our Heartthrob necklace which was made ENTIRELY from second-hand beads, pearls and crystal (p.s. it's still one of my personal faves🥰). Browse the rest of our Reworked Collection here!

I’m also looking forward to experimenting with new jewellery-making techniques to bring you more new and exciting designs. You probably know by now I’m a beader. Currently, my go-to techniques are loom bead weaving and hand-stitched pendants. I have absolutely loved all the design possibilities and challenges that come with these techniques, but I do think it’s time to branch out and try some more. I’m thinking of wire wrapping, chain maille and more!
